I'm not usually one to write much in these journals, but I felt that this was important enough to me as an artist that I might as well share it with everyone else.
This project that I recently did, The Seven Sins Project was more than just displaying the Deadly Sins as less intimidating as their title portrays them. These are "sins" that we're all guilty of and can smile at when we see just how absurd we can get with our own antics.
I thought a good way to portray these attributes in a person was to color coordinate each Sin. By creating a color scheme for each Sin, I think I made it easier to see the difference in each Sin by bringing out their characteristics or something like that. Truth be told, I just thought it'd be easier to see each Sin if a different color was assigned to each one.
And, taking photos that had color schemes would be a good way for me to get out of my black/white photo fetish and ease my way into the world of digital photography.
But this shoot was more than just whetting my whistle for different, before unused, mediums of photography, but it was sort of personal as well. This summer was my last summer before I moved off to college. Moving off to college meant that I would leave a bunch of my old friends behind to meet new ones and make new experiences.
As a way to remember my friends that I probably won't see again for a while, I thought that I would do what I perceive that I do best. Take pictures of them. And that's what I proceeded to do, and I now I've got lovely mementos of my friends before we all split ways to start our lives anew.
